I’ve got quite a bunch of eMails in past 2 weeks asking me if I’d forgotten iG:Syntax Hiliter? 😕
No, I’d say, absolutely not. Its just that I’ve been quite busy in these past 2-3 months that I haven’t even been able to blog regularly. Now that I’ve sorted out most of the things(changed jobs, I’ll talk about it later in another post), I’ll have some free time each day & over the weekends too. So I’ll be able to devote my some time to my little projects.
I’ve started to work on it & as the new version of GeSHi is in testing phaze(sorry I can’t give you a look at it), you can expect the new version of iG:Syntax Hiliter sometime soon, probably in first week of March. 😉
Just as a note – I found a plugin for some other blog the other day where the guy had actually managed to get it so that stuff between syntax-highlighting tags didn’t have to be entity-escaped. It’s definately possible… perhaps something to think about to go with a future version.
I plan to upgrade to WP1.5 but does your plugin already work with 1.5? I use some other plugins but yours is the major one that I really need after the upgrade 😉
Nigel, can you give me a link for that?
Swaroop, the plugin works with WP1.5, as you can see this blog already sports WP1.5 & the working of plugin can be seen by going to https://igeek.info/still-fresh/2004/11/02/file-reader/. 😉
Though it has some minor issues like not working on the archive/category pages etc. but I’ll be adressing that in the next release. But you needn’t worry, the plugin does its work otherwise. 😀
I downloaded your plugin and really like it, but I noticed that the License was Creative Commons and Geishi’s was GPL. You need to release your code under GPL (at least in addition to Creative Commons) other wise you don’t have the right to redistribute iG:Syntax Hiliter. Just FYI. If for some reason you don’t want to to release iG:Syntax Hiliter as GPL you could always ask GeSHi if they care, but otherwise know that you are violating their license currently.
It’s third week of April now… 🙂
Jay, thanks for pointing that out. I thought that the license should be GPL compatible. Maybe I was wrong, I’ll look into it again. And I’ll get a No Objection Letter from Nigel(developer of GeSHi) in writing. 😉
I know that Swaroop, its end of May now & to be frank, I haven’t touched iG:Syntax Hiliter code after this post!! Got busy as hell with office work & some other stuff, I’m full upto my neck right now, so don’t expect anything soon. Sorry about that!!
