ICANN(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) on Wednesday approved to create a virtual red-light zone by giving the green light to the XXX TLDs, reports Yahoo! ICANN said that it’ll start negotiating with ICM Registry Inc., run by British businessman Stuart Lawley, to iron out technical & price issues. Apparently ICM plans to sell the XXX domains for $60/year & hopes that adult oriented websites will adopt it voluntarily so that filtering software can block them more effectively & thus keeping children away from porn!!! Fat Chance I’d say!! 🙄
There are a lot of children who see porn & buy memberships to porn sites to access videos etc. I mean its ok, parents do keep a lookout & its also illegal to show porn to children but I just can’t digest it that all children keep distance from it. And I just don’t believe that adult websites will shift to XXX domains. Sure they’ll buy them to get good domains & traffic but their primary addresses will remain the current dot COMs, afterall they’ve spent many zillions on their promotion, paid spammers to spam, & all that stuff, so they just won’t give it up!! Besides, anything that helps filtering software blocking them won’t find a good adoption rate by porn sites, afterall even if they have notices on their homepages that one should be 18 or above to enter, they do hope to lure anyone & everyone in so that they can tempt people by showing what kind of stuff they have!! 😉
