Yes, Tata Indicom is just a company full of cheats & fraudsters giving no service for your money.
I applied for a 64kbps unlimited connection(Infinity-64) at Rs.800/month to use it as a backup for my current internet connection. Their representative, a Mr.Vikram, showed up at my home early in the morning at 10am(early in the sense that I go to sleep at 5am) on May 9th, 2005 & had me fill their registration form(Form Number 1210692) & took a cheque of Rs.552(Rs.500+10.2% tax towards setup charges) & said that I’ll have a connection in 10-15 days!! Astounding as it was(as there’s no company that takes 15 days to get you connected, it usually with 3-4 days), I accepted it.
After 12 days, I got a call from their office that it’ll take another 10-15 days for me to get a connection as ports on their servers are full. Bullshit as it is, I still accepted!! Now after 1 month, I called that lowly son of a bitch Vikram to tell me whether they are gonna give me a connection or not. He said that they are experiencing problems & will have me connected in 1 week. Problems??!! Big deal?? Not my problem!! I told him that he has 3 days, either connect me or make a refund!! I called him up 4 days later & demanded a refund. He said that I should fax an application or I want, he can come & collect it from me. I said ok, come & collect from me. He promised to come in the evening. 1 week passed & I still hadn’t heard from him. I called him up in the morning today & asked whether his evening has come or not, he started bullshitting me by giving the cock-n-bull story of he not being in Delhi!! I asked when am I gonna get a refund & he said that he’s reaching office in 10 minutes & will have their manager call me!! Its past middday & apparently he hasn’t reached office yet!! Has he died on his way there, I sincerely hope so!!! :curse:
So the moral of this incident? Never get a connection from Tata Indicom, they suck!! All they want & do is to get your money & then they forget you, no refund & no service, your money is as good as gone!! Second moral is never pay an advance to get a service like this to these companies when they are not delivering within a week. Third moral is, pay by a Credit Card always. If I’d paid by a Credit Card, then I’d simply would’ve done a chargeback & be done with it, no problems at all.
Just do not deal with VSNL.Inspite of the TATA name attached the company makes false claims and is outright fraud so your money will be sunk.
In case you do not believe me please book a business mail id for 1100 and experience the HELL. You will like me forget about your money and would move to another service provider.

I too had a frustrating experience with VSNL Broadband.
Even after 3 months of me requesting for shifting my broadband connection, till date nothing is done.
I was surprised to know that the amount 551 that i paid as service charge for shifting was adjusted against my monthly bill for 2 months, during whcih i had not even logged in once… My money is gone…
BSNL on the other hand provided me the broadband connection in just 3 days! 🙂 What a relief…

I don’t know what you are complaining about Veena. This is standard business practice. If you’ve taken a subscription of a service for which you are charged periodically & not on a pay-per-use modal, then its not the company’s problem if you don’t use the service for a period. You will be charged, whether you use it or not. 🙂 Now had you asked them to disconnect & were they still charging you, then that might’ve been something to complain about!! 😉
Hi Guys, TATA is not only cheating the customers but also its channel partners. Hope you know that there is a magazine called Telecom Live, if you got a chance please get Feb – 06 issue. Where it took a survey in Delhi and proved that “Tata Indicom channel partners turn paupers†and it is not a bluff story. Hope you all know Tata brand has significant quality, trust and ethics, most of the people took its franchisee for its ethics. The Tata’s employee even promised to have 32% of Return on Investment (ROI). You guys know what had happened there is no money with franchisee people even to pay the salary to their executives, since the ROI came in the negative side. The latest is Tata promised to have subsidy of Rs.2000/- each to all the executives of the franchisees. But still now not even a single rupee is paid. As the survey is made in Delhi don’t think that its is only for Delhi, it applies to all the states in India and most of the franchisee are pauper. And to my knowledge many franchisee are going to wind up their business with Tata by end of this month.
Last Month I bought connection from tataindicom, a representative told me within one week you will got the connection. Ya ofcourse I got the connection. But that time I want to shift my residence so I asked that person about the shifting he told me that is no problem just you have to pay for shifting charges 550/-. We have shifted the residence made him a call I have paid for shifting charges 5th of this month upto this day I did’nt get my connection. I have made a calls to customer care there is no response from them. Somehow they are refusing us to reply.

I had bought one US – India calling card paying online with HDFC Netpay on 24th May 2006, instantly I got an email from Head of customer care VSNL appreciating my choice or tata indicom calling card and stating that my Card Number and PIN are stated below on the same mail, but could not see any of such numbers on that entire mail and I had sent about 3 mails to customecare ID in last one week, which are not been answered till now. Can anybody tell me to whom I will have to contact further.

i agree with the people using tata broadband service. i use a prepaid sevice. since 02.06.2006, i find that they r charging me double of wat i use. the entries in the usage list are all done twice and they r cheating me and perhaps many others in kolkata where my connection is. one example is as below:

u will c that the usage is on the same date and the same time but debited twice. although it is not possible to hv an usage as above, my mails to the customer service r unanswered. the customer care phone service is a nice way of making money by them. u call them n they put u on hold. it took 20 minutes 31 secs. to lodge a complaint that i am being double charged and get a complaint no. from them. on the first instance they said that i may hv used it, but when i showed them the timings of usage, they gave me a complaint no. which is yet to be answered.
We have been a loyal customer of VSNL and now it is taken over by TATA’s.
Earlier we could check our mails from any where by just giving our account name and password even if our internet connection hours had expired.
Now after it had become tata indicom we are not able to access our mails once the internet hours is expired.
We are also getting lot of junk mails which we have already informed the customer care,but no action taken so far,
We are really forced to take only the tata indicom connection now since our account is blocked and can be accesed only if we take the connection from TATA indicom.
We really do know whom to complain about this.
the prob. of double billing stopped after i wrote here. but the very next day the router konked off and since 09.06.2006 i hv been complaining incl. doing to their office in kolkata but no response as yet. only one mail saying that i am on high priority. if 5 days of no response is high priority then wat wld the the normal service look like is anyones guess. the complaint no. is 3688280 in case someone in tata broadband is hearing

I got a TATA INDICOM Landline (080 56999107)Connection in October 2005. I asked for an Internet Plan, but they put me in single rate plan. The bill amount that came was 2000/- Then I asked them for 700/- millenium plan(Unlimited Download with 1 GB free download), then the next month bill which I was expecting to be within 750 came around 2000. Then I lodged a complaint.They claimed that I am in Single Rate plan and would call back telling .. I am billed accordingly..Then I asked for an itemized bill and even narrated them that my bill shows that i am in Millenium plan,then a person by name Vidhya called me and told me to pay 600/-, the units i used was 3998 units. The next month I was expecting around 750. When I got a bill for 6716/- They said the units was 2123 which means I have used 2123 MB of data transfer and after a discount of 1 GB , they have charged 5/- per MB and hence the bill is 6716.When I lodged a complaint back, they ignored my complaint. They did nt respond afterwards..My credit limit was just 1000/-, so i asked them why they did not intimate me in advance.After 2 months a person called Harsha (9243199169). Then I asked Harsha for an itemized bill, then he called me to their office in Koramangala and I talked to the Manager Arjun then one more person showed the itemized bill it in the system . I asked them how they calculate how much usage I do per day and he saidas they said they could not get a print out of it.. I asked him how they calculate the usage, for which he said they system itself calculates, so my bill amount is correct.Then I asked them to give a break up of the bill in terms of how much MB I have used in a day. For which they said they would mail it to my e-mail id. Then after that there was no response from them.
After 2 weeks a person by name Arun from Tata Indicom called me and said that I can surrender the instrument if I am not using them. Then when he came to collect the instrument he asked me to pay 700 + 700 for 2 months as he said I used the connection.When I said no , he asked me to pay atleast 500/-. Then I asked him to produce the itemized bill with break up in MB and I would pay him immediately, he said he cant give it.This happened last month(May 2006). Now recently I got a mail from TATA INDICOM Legal Dept Sanjeev A Kumar for ordering me to pay 7615 as it is outstanding from December 2005. If I dont pay I have to face legal charges for non payment of the bill.This I find ridiculous, when my complaint about the bill payment is now over from their end , how could they send me such a threatining mail..Can anyone help me in how to proceed further. How do I approach the consumer court and put them in trouble.

well i think i win from tata indicom , all of above cases r famaliar to every one , but i think so that i m the only one who has get monbey back by fighting with manager of tata broadband [aney malik]. i had applied for 6 months prepaid plan and pay them rs 3000 as it was my pocket money . i get this connection within 7 days and i really inspired . on first day when i got connection a i predict that i had pay to such a bastards , i can use it only 1 hours in a day and every time it disconnect . after 10 days i really fed up and finally i decided to go there head office as no customer care service . and when i entered the the five star building in bangla sahib road , and had words with their customer care about my problem and simply i asked them that plz give my money back with very good manner and in response they rejected me as they reasoned me that refund of money in prepaid is not applicable and it is rule . since i m from sikh family and we people r very aggresive so i slap to there officers , after some quarrel they told me that we ll give ur money back as soon as possible and finally i get 2535 with a addaptor and 50 meter wire as well. thanks to tata indicom to give me such a rubbish service.
Hi, I am Lakshmipathy from Chennai. On 28.05.2006 I purchased TATAINDICOM mobile for Rs.2500/= under DO STOP MOBILE Scheme (Two years outgoing free for TATA (3600mts) and Incoming free).
On 28.06.2006 I could not make or receive calls. After several calls to customer care It was rectified after three days.
After that also I could not make calls from my mobile because there was some problem in their system.
After two days I can able to make calls. But calls made to TATA ALSO CHARGED. Till date everyday I am contacting CUSTOMER CARE to rectify the problem. Everyday they told me today night my problrm will be solved.
They are really cheating fellows.
These tata indicom broadband guys are also idiots. What kind of marketing manager do they have. They say you can request renewal on our help line. I have called their helpline and requested for renewals upteen number of times. Its been more than 3 months and i have stopped requesting. They suck. What bloody idiots. I had invested Rs 1499 for getting the connection which did not work for 25% of the time.

I have two grievances:
1) I have recently taken a Wireless base phone of 125 plan Ph No 0657-6451115 on 23 -06-06
and it was conveyed to me by your marketing representatives that u have to give only Rs125 as rentals and rest will be the charges as per
usage.
When a call came to my home that u have to pay a 50 Rs clip charges also then again I contacted your marketing persons and asked them
that I want to Disconnect my phone as already I have two Indicoms with me and I am going to use this phone for Internet Purpose only
Then after reconfirming they conveyed that you are a TATA Employee so Clip charges are not to be paid by you.
The Marketing Persons whom I contacted are :

And these persons only said that there is no such Clip Charges for you else I would have disconnected the phone at that instance only
But in the bill what I have got the charges have been pushed onto me
and Now I am not going to pay the clip charges so dnt value me as a defaulter for not paying the bill .
Or else remove the clip charges , already I have requested to take away the clip facility from my Number
2) I took two of your handsets mobile ( Prepaid ) Ph Nos 9234890123 & 9234890125 Under the scheme of Mobile to Mobile free for Two years as was shown in your advertisements and as conveyed by your marketing people
But when I recharged my mobile by 350 coupon then the a balance started deducting while talking to Indicom Cell phone also which I never knew nor was there any communication for this thru any sort of media like call center / SMS ( Thru which u give useless advertisements )
Thus Now what I feel is we are deviating from our TATA ETHICS and just fooling people by some nasty Marketing tricks
So, I would request you to kindly take note of my grievances and do something to save me from Monetary losses which have trickingly pushed onto me.

Everybody here has put forth their complaints, but there is no group solution available… has any body approached the consumer court etc… and punished tata indicom? if such stories are shared we are willing to sue TI for the lapses.

i had deposited rs. 500/- for the purpose at the kolkata office of tatatele . till date nothing has come out nor money refunded. i opened tatatele website. no email id , no name nothing could be seen there. whom to contact. pls provide support.
Even I have had painful experience with TATA Inidcom!! Are they really the TATA’s? One dept dones know whats the other dept doing and even I after I renew te acct, they say I have 0 balance! when I called to enquire they are not sure and say would order an investigation and let me know in 48 hrs and when I went offensive why there is no one who could explain me, the person jus put me on hold wiothout ahy warning..
Before this , I used to have outages and when I used to call everyday for alomost 10 days, I get different reasons .. one being there is cable fault and dew days later upgrading server…
Its all bull-shit.. Do they really know the word “QUALITY” ????

OMG, I cant believe I was stupid enough not to check for these problems before going for the connection. I had applied for TATA Indicom – VSNL Broadband connection about 5 and half weeks ago and still chasing yo get it.
Their executive used to call me atleats 5 times a day untill I signed the form and paid the money and now nobody replies with a proper answer. When I call customer care, they just “LOG” my call, mails sent to customercare@vsnl.co.in are never replied, after calling VSNL office, a lady picks up the phone and gives me phone no which nobody usually picks up. That person picked up the phone once or twice and said, I’ll get the connection within a day or 2 but the wait goes on….
