Here’s a function in ASP from my code lib that I wrote quite a while ago to read the contents of a file into a variable when I was trying some custom tag parsing in a template engine of mine that I was making in ASP. ๐ก The details are quite boring so you better not know them, the project was one of my un-sung part-failures but I learned quite a lot by working on that pet project. ๐
Read MoreFirst RegEx FAQs!!
I’ve added 3 FAQs on RegEx at ezFAQs & I’ll try to add more later today as at this moment I’m feeling a bit sleepy.
What’s a Regular Expression or RegEx?
Where can the Regular Expressions be used?
Are there any free tools available to aid writing & testing of RegEx?
ezFAQs and ME !!
I’ve agreed to help out Dennis with the content of his website ezFAQs.
ezFAQs is about the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) on Web Development. The deal is that I add FAQs or answer any pending FAQs. Google AdSense ads are shown on each FAQ & I can specify my AdSense publisher account number & channel so that AdSense ads displayed on FAQs by me will have my account number & I will get all of the revenue earned from the clicks on those ads. Also, I have a link pointing to my Blog on the FAQ page.

So finally I’ve started into Regular Expressions. ๐
After been consistently realising the need for getting all wet in RegEx but fearing the cold waters, I started on RegEx yesterday when I built a validation class in PHP for a project that I’m working on, heavily using RegEx. About 99% of validation is being done by way of RegEx & I know that many tasks can be done with RegEx quite efficiently, as someone told me sometime back that RegEx are resource hungry if not optimally used, I simply built this class using RegEx just to see that I too can do it. ๐
MT Forums?
Now you can use MovableType as a Forum Software too, as per this release by Anil on Six-Apart Professional Network.(via WebLogToolsCollection) ๐ฏ
Firstly I’d say that the demo looks good, with Forum design taken from phpBB. ๐ ๐
Secondly, I’d like to register my surprise on the extent to which people are crazy. ๐ I’d like to question MT’s ability as a blogging software, leave alone its acceptance as a forum which may & will get a high amount of traffic.
Read MoreFireFox On Fire.....
The WebStandards Compliant Browser, Mozilla FireFox is surely the hot thing in whose following is growing by milliseconds. Another example of its huge following is that it has overachieved its target of raising enough funds to finance a full-page ad of Mozilla FireFox in The New York Times, reports c|net.

Yes, you read it right. Is 300MB free eMail storage enough? ๐ Apparently Lycos think it isn’t, that’s why, in addition to offering 300MB free eMail storage, they are offering 10GB of storage to paid users. ๐ฏ If you also want that staggering amount of eMail storage, you just need to shell out รยฃ3.49/month. ๐ Lycos claim that with 300MB of storage, you can store 3 million text eMails, which is a lifetime’s worth of eMails, reports TheRegister.
Read MoreAOL Browser?!
There’ve been rumours, that Google is creating its own web-browser, for quite some time now. I don’t know whether Google is creating its web-browser or not, but I know that AOL is sure creating one. ๐ As per this news story at CNet’s News.com, AOL is planning to release its own web-browser which will be based on Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Technology & its more or less fuelled by the 7-Year-Royalty-Free License that Microsoft granted to AOL last year, allowing AOL to use IE Technology in its products, as part of the $750million settlement in an anti-trust lawsuit filed by Netscape in January 2002.
Read MoreBusy Me!!
Looks like its one of those days again when my plate is so full that I feel like running away for some quiet & peace to calm my nerves. ๐
Oh boy, been busy like hell for the past few weeks & its going to get worse in coming weeks. Ever since I switched jobs a month back(yes I made the switch), its been kinda busy but quite pleasant too, as I do like working. ๐ But the side-effects being that I haven’t been able to keep up with the internet news, for which my stupidity is also responsible as I was experimenting with the DNS records of my domain & hence this blog was in-accessible even to me for the past 5-6 days. ๐ And my SharpReader is almost full to the point that it almost crashed my machine. ๐ฅ
Read MoreMicrosoft embracing Open Source!!
CNet’s News reported that Microsoft has released the code of FlexWiki & licensed it under the open-source Common Public License. ๐
Its to be noted that Microsoft earlier released the source of its WindowsInstallerXML & then released WindowsTemplateLibrary at SourceForge.net. ๐
