Advantage SUN !!

Posted by on in iNews | 0 comments

James Gosling, the father of JAVA, clarifies a few things, rumours(read baseless) that’ve been flying around with the ongoing legal battle between the big bully Microsoft & the too hot to handle SUN & its concluding settlement.
James was quite affronted with some rumours that said that SUN has sold out JAVA(Community) to Microsoft for $$$, or atleast he appeared to(be affronted) in his Blog Post. ๐Ÿ˜€
The one thing that’s come good(for whom, its to be seen ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) with this settlement is that SUN has hit paydirt & James say that a significant part of the bounty will be invested in the development of JAVA & JAVA Community. Well, if that’s really true, then we JAVA developers have something to celebrate. ๐Ÿ˜‰

a 400 that has never been before!!

Posted by on in Serious Jokes | 0 comments

What I watched tonight was history being made & I, along with millions of viewers around the world were part of it.
Brian Lara, the great West Indian batsman, who previously held the record of most number of runs(375) scored in a Test Innings, lost his record to Australian Opening bat Mathew Hayden(380) some time back, only to gain it back with style. Yes, Brian does have style, no one can deny that. Or how can a batsman score 400 runs in the Test Cricket Arena with 43 boundaries & 4 sixes? ๐Ÿ˜€
Boy oh boy, he’s become the first batsman in the 125+ years’ history of the game, to score 400 runs in a Test Innings. Truly classy innings against England & at a time when they are playing for pride. ๐Ÿ˜‰
How else can the man provide a proof of his greatness, how else can he convey the message that he’s not out of it yet, he still is one of the best. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Secret of Google Power?

Posted by on in iDevelop | 0 comments

I found a great Blog entry by Rich Skrenta at Topix.net, which sheds some light on how GOOGLE is doing it all. The power behind Google.

It suggests the possibility of a new Google OS & the way its putting steam in the field with OS researchers on it payroll, with Rob Pike, a member of original UNIX team at Bell Labs, joining Google. Google employees bat deep when it comes to research in OS, networking, distributed systems, compiler optimisation, thread migration and distributed shared memory. 8) ๐Ÿ˜•

Another Gigabyte Mail?

Posted by on in Serious Jokes | 2 comments

People are waiting for GMail, Google’s much hyped free eMail service that promises 1GB(1024MB) of storage space to users.

But before we get Google-ing or GMail-ing, its show time for Spymac users.
Spymac has started offering 1GB storage to its users, says the story at CNet News. ๐Ÿ˜€
So, it means that Spymac has beaten Google to become Internet’s first free eMail service to offer a GB of storage. 8) And to top it all, the eMail has free access to both POP3 & WebMail. This means that you can either check your eMail in Desktop EMail Clients like Outlook or Eudora or you can check your eMail just like millions do, from a web based interface, accessible from anywhere on internet. ๐Ÿ˜€ 8)

Problems, problems, problems !!

Posted by on in Serious Jokes | 0 comments

I spent a good part of my time customising the Other Blog Script that I’ve been considering. Then after I got it working on my PC, I decided to go live with it & put it on my webserver.

But this is where things started going nasty. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
I uploaded the script alright & started the installation & that’s where I got the first whiff of it. Got 1 error during the first step & 2 in2nd step & 3rd step didn’t run at all. ๐Ÿ™„
I thought ok, no problem, I manually created a table that was left from being created during installation & thought that it’ll work but no, it doesn’t.

Ticking it OUT!!

Posted by on in Serious Jokes | 0 comments

I’m now in a serious dilemma now. I can’t seem to make my mind up. Now that I’ve got WordPress 1.0.2 up & running on my PC(earlier I wasn’t able to install it, some faulty code in the script, which I commented to install it & then uncommented it back), I’m testing & tweaking it.
